New EV charging station added in Cranbrook

Some really good news if you drive an electric vehicle in and around the Key City.
BC Hydro has installed a new 100-kilowatt charging station at its set-up at the corner of Cranbrook Street and 1st Street North.
Provincial Minister of Energy, Mines, and Low Carbon Innovation, Josie Osborne, touting it as an important part of the CleanBC Climate Plan meant to help British Columbians make the switch from gas-power to EVs.
Back in 2017, a 50-kilowatt station was built on site that could charge the average vehicle in about 10 ten minutes and would last for about ten kilometres.
The new 100K EV charger also takes about 10 minutes, but provides a 100 kilometre charge.
The Province adds there’s close to 160,000 EV vehicles on BC roads today.
